The Busy Month of May

We did it, and by that I mean Morgan did it! He made it through law school! This is a picture of him on his last day of classes ever! Of course he still has finals to go, but no more classes!

This is a cute picture of Eva and her friend Mason. We watched these boys so their parents could go to their loan counseling meeting. Every law student is asked to attend loan counseling so they can be made aware of how much money they actually owe. When we went to our meeting the councelor asked if we had any idea how much we owed and we said we did and then told her how much we thought it was. She was surprised and said that most students have no idea what they took out and are shocked to learn the whole number. We laughed at that after the meeting because that seems so foreign to us.

Here is a picture of Morgan and I on our 5th anniversary. We went to the Downtown Grille in downtown Charlottesville. It was, sadly, subpar.

They did have this amazing mousse chocolate cake however. Those chocolate sprinkles on top are actually chocolate pop rocks and they were awesome on top of this.

And lastly, we have slowly been selling and packing up all our belongings, getting ready for the big move back west. So, here is a picture of sweet little Eva sleeping on a blow up mattress, because we sold her bed.

Graduation is next week and we move the day after graduation, so we are busy prepping and cleaning and packing. We're excited to see our parents and celebrate Morgan's awesome achievement.

Mom Confessions

First off I love these two kiddos. They are darling. 

I have had a super rough second trimester with this pregnancy. And by super rough, I mean I have been super crazy. I've been dealing with pre-natal depression off and on through the last few weeks and it is the worst. Here's a tip, depression doesn't always mean you are sad, it can also exhibit itself as extreme anger. That's the kind I have. I get super worked up over silly things and can't calm myself down. It's not very fun and it makes me feel like I am the worst person.

I think part of what I am feeling is some PTSD that Morgan and I got because of how hard Jack has been. I'm happy to report that he is making small improvements. As her learns to communicate more, he becomes a little easier to deal with.

I am so ready for law school to be over. All in all it hasn't been a great experience. It's been so hard in ways I never expected.

I will miss Virginia though. This little town home and my kid's early years here will always hold a special place in my heart.

Spring Parties and Easter

We have a few little friends who have spring birthdays. This year one of them decided to do an easter party complete with rabbit hats and an egg hunt. It was SO cute!

The little girl in the middle is CG (Cora Grace). I've been nannying her for the last little while.

I also threw my friend Megan Shoell a baby shower for Shoell baby #1. She told me she liked elephants, so I ran with the idea. It was fun to put together and I think it turned out nicely.

We had a fun easter celebration. We just bought a big bag of Jelly beans and only put those in the eggs, we're super exciting parents. We did throw an Easter party and invited some friends over for a competitive adult easter egg hunt, ham dinner with the fixings, and egg dying. 

The Lyons go to Washington...to see the Lazarevs

Our old Provo friends, the Lazarev's, moved from Provo to DC in February. I organized a little trip up to DC to see them and we were so glad we were able to get together. We rode a kid train, went to this place: 

I just can't quite remember what is was called. We ate great food and visited and visited. It was so nice to see our friends and to visit like no time had passed. Eva and Charlie were finally old enough to play which was fun.

January 2017

Eva clearly still loves her ballet outfit. She wears it all the time and dances all around the house. 

Morgan got this awesome photo complication (bottom frame) to represent our three children born in three states...oh ya, we are pregnant with our third. Surprise!

I went on a health kick last winter and here is a recipe that I LOVE from those healthier days (being pregnant helps me to not be healthy) a turkey sandwich with all the fixings on roasted sweet potatoes. It is as delicious as it sounds.

We found out the gender of baby #3. It's a BOY! (we were shocked)

Here was a our public service gender announcement. These weren't real reactions, but I let Eva come along with me to the gender reveal and she was adamant before and during that is was a girl. I had to let her down easy after the scan was over.

My boys taking a little nap. This is a rare site for Jack. He never snuggles in and sleeps on us, so I was happy to catch this little moment.

Eva turns 3

Our little girl turned 3 shortly after Christmas. We let her pick out her own cake box mix at walmart. She chose pink cake of course, with white frosting (she actually wanted pink, but I convinced her to do white) and colored sprinkles. 

She got a cute ballet outfit, an Elsa outfit and a new warm winter outfit for her birthday. Clearly the girl was in need of clothes.

Christmas in Virginia

This year we celebrated Christmas in Virginia and our first Christmas completely on our own. We went to richmond for Christmas Eve morning to an old theatre that shows movies. The specialty on Christmas Eve was the Polar Express. We made it mostly through the movie, but with two little wiggly ones, we had to leave early. Here are our obligatory selfies:

The best part of the experience was the organist who played before the movie. He played lots of Christmas carols while the audience sang along and at the end they even finished with fake snow. It was awesome!

 Like the responsible parents we are, we forgot to pack coats for our kids and it just happened to be cold and rainy, so I gave Eva my sweater while we waited for the theater to open.

Christmas morning was fun. It was our first year alone and I think it was a success. It was a quiet affair, but fun to soak it in with our kiddos.
