Being a Mom

I love, love, LOVE spending everyday with this little one.
Today, I am especially grateful for my little girl.
I walked around my house and looked at the old empty bottles on the floor...
The dirty dishes all over the counters…
The little tiny hand smudges all over every shiny surface in my house…

I don't know if you can see this little handprint, but it's there.
And the spilled formula on my end table that Eva loves to smear around…

Then I thought about the fact that I have only eaten cereal and chocolate cookies today….
And that I still haven't showered after exercising this morning and I look like this…
Haha…cookie in hand even!
Through all of this…I could have been tempted to get discouraged and think that my house is falling apart, but then this little cutie reaches out to me to be picked up and sits on my lap and giggles…

 and 'talks' to me…
and then squishes her face against mine and laughs…
This little one doesn't care what my house looks like, she doesn't care what I look like, she just cares that I am here for her and that is one of the many reasons I love being a mom!

Pumpkin Pictures

I got together with some other ladies last week to take pictures of our littles in a carved pumpkin. They turned out adorable. Here are the ones we took of Eva.

 I love this face!

We think she is pretty cute. :)

More cuteness

We were spinning Eva around on Morgan's office chair and she was just being so darn cute that Morgan told me to go get the camera and snap a few pictures. We also wanted to document her outfit which Beka gave to us at my baby shower.

What a cutie!

Trip to Carter Mountain

It was date night last night. I was in charge and so I decided to take Morgan to a Charlottesville classic--Carter Mountain.

Carter Mountain is an apple orchard on a hill south of Charlottesville. It offers beautiful views of the city, and you can pick your own fruit (if you like) or buy it fresh. We got some apple doughnuts (very delicious) and two different types of apples.

They have a deck and seating area behind the store, that looks like a  barn. We sat in drizzling rain and enjoyed our treats.

Mouths full of yummy treats!

We then enjoyed the beautiful view. It was a little hazy because there was a rain storm rolling in. We plan to go back when it is clear and the leaves have changed color. Stay posted...

We walked around and checked out all the different stuff they have set up.

Tasting the rain.

Eva wouldn't put her head in the hole. She kept grabbing the sides and holding herself away from it.

Such a sweet daddy-daughter moment!

Halloween is coming…

Eva is 9 months!!

Crazy! She has now been out of me longer than she was in me. Kind of a crazy milestone. I can't believe she is that old partly because she is still so small. At her 9 month appointment, she weighed in at 15 pounds and 9 oz (10%) and was only 26 inches long (8%). So, she has only gained 6 pounds and 9 inches since birth! She still wears 3-6 month clothes and still has about 2 cm of room in newborn size shoes. She eats like crazy though and is plenty happy.

She has learned to climb this last week. While Morgan was supervising, she climbed 10 stairs. She has crawling down pat and spends most of her time standing by our coffee table. She loves playing patty-cake, trot trot to boston, and this is the way the lady rides. She doesn't let mom, or dad sleep past 7am and is the most talkative in the morning. She is now down to two naps--one at 9:30ish and one at 2:00ish. She then goes down for the night at 7 now which is pretty nice. She can feed herself cheese and crackers. Her favorite things to eat are any sweets, what mom and dad are eating, and key lime pie greek yogurt. Here are a few pictures of our 9-month-old love!

She was mad that I kept moving her to be in the light so I could get good pictures…haha…
I love this face.

Two little teeth!

Posing for the camera. Thanks to Morgan's family for sending us her cute outfit!
